Hearts & ISBNs

As I was working on a post for next Tuesday's Austen Authors blog, I came across a number of delicious-looking websites including Cheryl's, which had these fabulous frosted cookie-heart bouquets. YUM! You can have your flowers and eat 'em, too...

Here, we are going to have a very low-key Valentine's Day. We don't do any elaborate celebrations or give big gifts (in fact, my husband and I only exchanged Valentine's Day presents once, during our first year of dating ;), but we already have some chocolate onhand that we both really like, and there will probably be a dinner that I don't have to cook sometime this weekend -- most likely Thai carryout, since that's marginally healthy -- along with the exchanging of cards.

My husband doesn't have to do much more than that to make me feel loved and appreciated (although, if he baked me a tiramisu every now and again I would probably consider him to be the perfect man -- one that could rival even the Old Spice Guy, lol). From the publishing world, however, I got my Valentine's treat early and in a non-edible form: The ISBN number for A Summer in Europe appeared on Amazon this week, and that never fails to make me squee aloud and say, "Oh, my God, it's real!" No cover yet. No product description. Nothing more than a placeholder page, really, but I have yet to tire of the experience of seeing these things pop up.

Anyway, it's Friday and the start of the weekend...what are you all going to do? Any special/romantic plans?? Will you do your celebrating tonight, tomorrow or Sunday...or will you wait for the official day on Monday to share your particular words of love with your Valentine? Regardless, I wish you all a Very Happy Hearts Day! xoxo

I know Husband and I have been married too long...I said it's Valentines Day soon. Are we going to do anything? He looked at me. I looked at him. "Naaah!" we both said together!! :) But as my dad has sent me a valentine every year that I can remember I'm sure I'll get at least one card. :)

But we are having a family "Xmas on Valentines Day" dinner on Sunday. Xmas is always at my sister's house so I keep table crackers, and a turkey and gammon (for everyone else, not me, I stick to veggies!) and everyone comes here on the weekend closest to Valentine's Day for a hybrid Xmas/valentines lunch. So that'll be great!

The hubby and I are usually pretty low key on Valentines Day;) Movie and a dinner usually thrills me.

Congrats on the ISBN! I can't wait to see the cover!

A page on Amazon--how wonderful!!! Of course, it's just a huge tease for those of us desperate to read your next book, seeing that tasty little page there but knowing we're going to have to wait half a year to get it.

Happy Valentine's Day to you and your honey.

Judy, I love that you do a hybrid Xmas/Valentine's meal! It's around this time of year that Christmas seems far away and there's still a long stretch until Easter -- a perfect opportunity for a family get together ;). Have fun this weekend!!

Maria, I'm with you -- movie and a dinner thrills me, too (and, really, I even prefer a DVD rental and carryout, so I can wear my pjs ;). Hope you have a great weekend together!

Pamela, Happy Valentine's to you and YOUR honey, too ;). And thanks for the congrats on the page being up. It's not as though I don't know what the book's about, but I'm really anxious to find out how sales/marketing will describe it and what image the cover artist will come up with this time... In a lot of ways it's even more of a tease for me, lol.

Very exciting about the ISBN! My husband's been buying me flowers the last few years for Valentine's Day. We exchange a card, and I'll make a nice dinner. That's pretty much it.

I had forgotten all about Cheryl's cookies! We had them where I grew up (in the Midwest) but we don't have them here. They were a staple of almost every mall visit - and as a teenager I made a LOT of visits to the mall!

Congrats on the ISBN number! I can't wait to read it. It doesn't have Kindle info up yet, so I clicked the link to ask the publisher to get on that. :-)

Edie, I think flowers are especially nice in the middle of winter -- it seems like a little piece of spring is sitting in a vase on your table. A lovely gift! Hope you and your hubby have a wonderful Valentine's ;).

Caryn, thank you!! I'm not sure when they'll get the e-version listed, but I'm going to credit you for it when they do :). As for Cheryl's, I'm envious that you had one nearby growing up -- I would have loved something like that as a teen. Heck, I'd love something like that right NOW!
