Visiting Friends

Today I get to zip over to California (virtually, not literally -- unfortunately!) to visit my friend Robin Bielman, who has an interview with me on her blog today about Friday Mornings at Nine. Thanks so much, Robin!!

And the newly expanded Magical Musings is just getting started! Thanks to everyone who joined in our celebration over the weekend and to Barbara Vey, who mentioned us over at her Publishers Weekly blog!

The Janefest is still going on over at Austen Authors, too, so if you'd like to win some Austenesque prizes...

This is, to use a phrase I've heard rather a lot, a "crazy busy" time of year. I'm barely keeping up with everything, and everyone I know is swamped as well. I'm trying to remember take a break or two, amidst the hecticness of the day, and relax for a few moments -- talk for 5 minutes on the phone with a friend, send a quick email to someone I'm thinking of, snatch a little time to read a blog I like and, if life gets too crazy for even that, to simply pause for a second to send some happy vibes to everyone I know and love. It's 10:30am and already it's been a busy morning, so I need to make some tea and do that mindful little pause -- right now, I think ;). What do you do to help yourself relax?

Oh my gosh! A picture of me on your blog. Yikes! Don't you know how shy I am? Even on the web? Can we photoshop it and put a bag over my head or something? We'll draw on some blue eyes and a smile because I'm beyond delighted that you're a guest on my blog this week. But seriously, me on your blog? Ugh.

I need a drink...that'll help me relax. ;)

Robin, you look great!

It is a crazy busy time, but it's been that way for months. I'm reading to relax, and I walked my dog. Tonight I'll watch Castle. Yay!

Robin, you look LOVELY!!! Thanks, again, for letting me visit you ;).

Edie, I can't wait to see "Castle" too!! I'm a huge Nathan Fillion fan...sigh. I've been looking forward to the start of this season for months. Will be thinking of you as I watch tonight ;).

Hope you're enjoying your virtual book tour! I enjoyed reading your interview on Robin's blog (though I didn't get to comment yet because my RSS reader was acting up).

As for relaxing, I read (of course!) or watch a movie or work on my photography or talk to my husband or hug my daughter - so many fun options!

To relax it's candles and Starbucks. I need to find a support group for Starbuck addictions.

Robin, funny but my first throught was- wow look how pretty she is. I wonder if I could do that with my hair~ um, no...my hair would not do that. lol.
Hi Marilyn, *waves* On my relax breaks, I lie/lay (whichever, don't make me look it up) on my back on my bed and hang my head and shoulders over the edge. It's a yoga pose that calms the mind and the body. cheers~

Caryn, thank you ;). And I don't think there's anything that tops hugging such a cute baby!

Rain~I'm gonna join you at Starbucks! Please let me be part of your support group!!

Nancy, your comment made me laugh--thank you! I can never remember when to use lie/lay ;). I love your yoga pose idea, too!!

Relax? What's that? No, seriously..I read blogs, play bloomin' gardens online (don't ask) and read. Of course there are those special moments with my granddaughter where we play and act crazy. Fun times.

Just read the interview over on Robin's blog - it was great. What do I do to relax in crazy busy times? The best for me is steal 28 minutes...which is the exact length of my favouirte meditation, which re-energises me completely.

This time of the year always seems to be crazy. I don't know if it's getting back to school in the groove of things or how fast the seasons change. I have to stop and take deep breathes.

And just how awesome was Robin's interview? About a kerjillion times awesome--kudos to both her and you, Marilyn! Yes, take a few spare moments this week--you deserve them!!!

miriama~LOL. I'm sadly all too familiar with that inability to recognize the word "relax" :). Wishing you more great times with your granddaughter soon!

Judy, I think I'm going to need to do some meditating (or yoga, like Nancy!)...I need to remember to breathe deeply...

Tonya~the fall really *does* seem to change especially fast, doesn't it? I think you're right. That must add to the franticness somehow when even the season is racing by.

Aw, thanks, Pamela!! And I'm stealing your word "kerjillion" sometime ;). xo

I have a cup of tea in the afternoon to relax- honey vanilla chamomile. My co-workers think it's kind of funny when I go 'tea time!' but it does help me start to wind down after a crazy-busy day at the 'ol day job.

Michele~that tea sounds SO nice! Mmmmm ;). I love your ritual at work and think I ought to adopt something similar!
