We All Scream...

It's the end of March. The last day, in fact. And, as I look outside my window, I see SNOW. Yes, that's right. Several inches of it on the ground. And angry rain pouring down on top of it. Going "out like a lamb," indeed.

Thankfully, the warmer spring sun of yesterday melted away much of the bizarre blizzard that attacked us over the weekend, but I still have fantasies of a real spring. One that includes warm weather. Clear skies. And ice cream.

So, when I came upon this article on America's Best Ice Cream, I figured I'd link to it for inspiration. Some of you are in climate where you can actually enjoy an ice cream cone outside and have the satisfaction of seeing it melt if you don't eat it fast enough. For the rest of us, I'd like to think that day is coming. Soon. Like, preferably, tomorrow.

Also, being that it's the end of the month, I'd like to congratulate the two winners of my March drawing: Vesper & Leshia! You two win the writing journals and the Thoreau bookmarks--YAY!!--and I will get them out to you as soon as I have your mailing addresses. Please email me at marilynbrant AT gmail DOT com and let me know where you'd like them sent :).

There are lots of little celebrations coming up in my cyber world in April--my 2-Year Blogiversary, Easter & Passover, Earth Day (why not?!), the arrival of my book cover (rumor has it that it's on its way!!)--and I'm looking forward to sharing them with all of you.

Yay for April!! and you know that April showers bring May flowers...

I sit here, ignoring the rain and snow and imagining flowers.

Cheers!

Wait, wait! I won something? Awesome! ;-)

I can't wait for your cover. The only thing I'm more excited about is, well, the book!

Pam~I keep wanting to say "...and introducing Pamela Cayne!" every time I see you lovely name :). Here's to a great April for all of us!

Nancy~you have a far better imagination than I do today! Thanks for the cheery visuals.

Leshia~yay for you! Believe me, I'll post that jpeg as soon as I get it. Thanks for being excited with me :).

Think positively, my friend -- if it's rainy and snowy outside, no one can make you feel guilty that you're not taking your children out to frolic at the park for hours on end.

Marilyn!!! What is this?! Do you have another friend Vesper, or is it this Vesper? :-)

There's still plenty of snow around Montreal, in dirty piles of incredible ugliness...

I'm very much looking forward to seeing your book cover. It is so exciting! :-)

It's wonderful sunny here. April begins very good but, like last year's disaster summer, let's just hope that this is not all we are getting.

When you have your book cover, can we see it?

Erica~LOL, you've made me feel infinitely better! It's good to be absolved of all park duties. Does that mean I can get out of going to the gym, too?

Vesper~you are the one and only!! Congratulations :). I hope you and Leshia will enjoy the prizes!

Middle Ditch~please, oh, please send some of that sunshine here! Or maybe I should just go there... I loved being in England no matter what the weather :). And YES on seeing the cover! I can't wait to be able to post it here!!

I can hardly wait to see your book cover, Marilyn! I hope you get it soon.

And an article about ice cream??? Well, now you've gotten me started... :) Being a Madison girl, you know that Babcock ice cream is some of the best in the country, Marilyn. I feel very fortunate to have access to it here anytime I want it! And sometime I'll have to try the organic place in Viroqua (in the article) since I drive right through there when I go to La Crosse to visit my parents! Oh, and do you know there's a fantastic ice cream place on Michigan Ave in Chicago?! I can't remember what it's called, but I think it's just south of the river. I couldn't find it with a google search, so I hope it's still there. ...Now I'm hungry... ;)

I hope it's a nicer day in your neck of the woods today! I'm sending my California sunshine to you. And please know, anytime (and I mean anytime) you want to visit to escape the cold weather, you've got a place to stay. :)

I'm looking forward to all of your celebrations this month.

It hailed yesterday. It was also my husband's birthday. Thus the hail? (All Hail the King!) (His last name is King). (Okay, I'm reaching).

It's very cold today, but no hail.

Oh, yeah, this other odd weather pattern happened yesterday before the hail. We were driving down the highway, and this water started pouring from the heavens in streams. It had been so long (with all the snow), that for a second I actually thought, "What the hell is that?" Then I realized, "Rain, rain, it's rain!!!!"

Ahem.

Brett~you know my hands-down, all-time fave is the infamous Orange Custard Chocolate Chip in Madison! And if you try that place in Viroqua, let me know what you think!!

Thanks, L.A. :)

Yes, Robin, it WAS better! And thank goodness, too...it'd gotten really depressing around here. As for the warm invitation--I heart you! Thanks!!

Cindy~LOL! "All hail the King!" And I know just what you're saying about the strangeness of the weather--everything has been in extremes. Hope there's a warm, sunny day coming up for you, too.

Yum. Ice cream. Just thinking about it is making me hungry! Actually, what I really want is some Cold Stone, but we're camping, so that's not exactly a possibility at the moment. Though I did manage to drive around until I found wifi, so you never know...

Marilyn Brant said...

Caryn~we have a Cold Stone Creamery in the area and I've heard wonderful things about it! Because there are other great places even nearer to us, I haven't yet gone to it, but you're tempting me!
